This antique, needlepoint is wonderful in many ways.
The subject is so sweet. It is a puppy, perhaps a Pointer pup who is gazing intently at a bumblebee.
This flawlessly created needlework is framed, under glass in an Art Deco, oval wood frame, that was quite popular during the 1930’s – 1940’s.
Measuring 15 3/4″ long x 12 3/4″ tall, the needlepoint portrait is in excellent condition. The frame has some wear, and small chips, but it still shows beautifully.
The back of this piece attests to its age, and identifies it as having been made by “Grandma Edwards in 1934.” Part of the inscription is blacked out.
It is an irresistibly charming work of art that speaks to the heart of anyone who has ever had the pleasure of witnessing the natural curiosity of a puppy.
