This engaging, vintage print features a pair of English Cocker Spaniels. Although the original portrait was a dry point etching in shades of black and white, this vintage print shows off all of the variations of those colors. On close inspection, it would appear that one dog is a blue roan, and the other a lemon roan. Both dogs are perfectly captured by John Knowles Hare, an American artist from Montclair N.J., who was known for his etchings and magazine cover illustrations in the early 1900’s.
This exquisite portrait is signed and entitled “Thoroughbreds”. Although the paper has deepened in color over time, it has a wonderful, vintage look that adds to the already enormous appeal of the two dogs.
Measuring 12 3/4″ tall x 9 3/4″ wide, it is framed under glass in a painted black wood frame. The print is in excellent condition, and the frame is worn with a few small chips, that again contributes to a wonderful vintage look.
