This whimsical porcelain dog figurine, captures the mischievous spirit of three Pug dogs, two of whom seem to have found their way onto the parlor furniture.
Called a “Fairing”, such pieces were made in Germany and given out at fairs in England in the early 1900’s. This one, entitled “The Orphans” was very popular.
Measuring 4″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 1 3/4″ wide, it is in excellent condition, beautifully hand painted, with 1887 impressed on the underside of the base. One of the pugs has a white spot on its muzzle, but it is smooth to the touch, and appears to be painted that way in the manufacturing process.
This is a unique and wonderful depiction of a very charismatic breed and a fantastic addition to any Pug collection.
